Why Ghantagram?

Ghanta (घंटा / மணி) literally means "bell."

For centuries, bells played an important role in our communities. They called people together, announced important news, marked celebrations, signaled emergencies, and inspired collective action.

A bell was never just a sound. It was a way to connect people around something that mattered.

Today, we receive countless notifications, yet often feel disconnected from our neighbourhoods and communities.

Ghantagram was created to bring back the original purpose of the bell: helping people come together, support one another, solve problems, share opportunities, and create positive change.

Because the next generation will inherit the communities we choose to build today. Let's stop waiting for someone else to act. Let's come together, ring the bell, and create change.

Every post is a Bell.

Every Bell is an invitation to participate.

Every citizen has a Bell.

Ghantagram. Every Bell Can Create Change.

The idea

A Bell is a signal raised by a citizen.

A broken streetlight. A clean-up drive. A lost dog. An urgent blood request. The best filter coffee on the street. If it matters to the people around you, it's a Bell, and it deserves to be heard.

How it works

Three steps to a louder neighbourhood.

Raise a Bell illustration
1

Raise a Bell

Spot something local that matters? Post it in seconds with a category and a photo.

Neighbours Ring Back illustration
2

Neighbours Ring Back

People nearby tap the bell to show they care. The more Ring Backs, the louder it rings.

Something changes

Enough support gets it noticed by the people who can act. Real outcomes, on your street.

What you can do

A toolkit for being a good neighbour.

From a quick question on the street to a self-run residents' group, Ghantagram has the small set of tools your neighbourhood actually needs. Calm by design, never noisy.

Raise a Bell

Spot something local that matters? Pick a category, add a photo, ring it for your area in seconds.

Run a Poll

Ask your street a quick question. Two to five options, a duration you set, one vote per neighbour.

Edit your posts

Second thoughts welcome. Edit your own Bells any time. An "Edited" tag is shown only to you, the author.

Join Communities

Self-contained spaces for your RWA, your street, your school parents, your interests. Public and discoverable, or private and invite-only.

Four ways to read your area

My Area for your exact pin code, Nearby for the streets next door, Following for people you trust, and Communities you have joined. Sort by newest or by Ring Backs, you decide.

Follow and save

Follow neighbours whose Bells you value, and bookmark any Bell to find it later in your profile. No follower race, just a feed that is yours.

Direct Messages

Have a quieter word. Message a neighbour one to one, with privacy controls and message requests so you stay in charge of who reaches you.

English · தமிழ் · हिन्दी

Choose your language at the first launch. The whole interface switches in a tap, anytime, from Settings.

Real local conversations

Comment and reply on any Bell. Text only, no noise. Talk to your street, not strangers across the world.

Light or dark

Built to feel calm in either mode. Picks up your phone's preference, switchable in Settings.

Private and safe

Sign in with Google or a verified email. Phone is optional. Report a Bell, a comment, a person or a community in a tap; every report gets a human review.

The signature action

One tap to say
"I care too."

No followers. No likes chasing virality. Just Ring Back, a simple, honest signal of support that tells your neighbours, and the people who can act, that this matters to the community.

Bell Recognition

Recognised for helping, not for going viral.

Every Ring Back your Bells receive is a neighbour saying your contribution mattered. Those Bells add up into recognition, earned through value created for the neighbourhood, never through follower counts or popularity.

Earned through helpful participation

Bells are earned when neighbours find your posts genuinely useful and ring them back, one honest signal at a time.

Milestones recognise sustained contribution

Bell milestones celebrate showing up for your street over time, not a single post that happened to spike.

Higher tiers represent long-term impact

The four Bell tiers, at 1,000, 5,000, 10,000 and 100,000 Bells received, mark a lasting, real impact within the community.

Based on value, not popularity

Recognition is based on the value you create for the neighbourhood. No vanity metrics, no follower race, no popularity contest.

The feed

Your whole neighbourhood, in one feed.

1

My Area · Nearby

Two honest feeds, Bells from your exact pincode, and from neighbouring areas your community is connected to.

2

Newest or Most Supported

Sort by time or by Ring Backs. No engagement ranking, no endless optimisation. You decide.

3

Made to read like a modern feed

Avatars, photos, clear categories. It feels like the apps you already love, focused on your street, not strangers.

Human-driven

No algorithm. No dark patterns. No view counts. Just people.

Ghantagram is driven by humans, not metrics. We don't rank your feed to keep you hooked, we don't count views, and we don't use dark patterns to nudge your behaviour. You see every Bell, sorted by newest or most supported. Your choice, every time.

Built on trust

Private by default. Safe by design.

You're in control of what you share

Email is required for sign-in. Phone is optional, and never shown publicly.

Community moderation

Report spam, abuse or fake information. A Bell with enough reports is auto-hidden for review.

Made for neighbours

No follower counts and no reach games, just neighbours talking to neighbours.

One city at a time

We grow locality by locality, so every neighbourhood feels active from the first day you join.
